By donating to the Tree of Memories, you will be supporting Christmas gifts and comfort items for seniors, long-term care residents and patients who will spend the holidays away from home.
Once you donate, your loved one's name will be placed on our online wall of memories which can be found under the "tributes" tab. Tributes will also be recognized on our digital wall of tributes at the Health Sciences Centre, and at the Tree of Memories Carol Service.
We hope you will join us in celebrating our loved ones during the Tree of Memories Carol Service at the Health Sciences Centre, Main Auditorium on Sunday, December 23 at 4 p.m.
Who will you remember this Christmas?
Christmas is a time for joy, celebration and honouring long-standing traditions. The Tree of Memories is now one of those treasured traditions for many families in Newfoundland and Labrador. For three decades now, families have remembered and honoured their loved ones during the holiday season through a gift to the Tree of Memories. This year, we invite you to take part in this tradition.
This year, hundreds of loved ones will be remembered - including David O’Leary.
“Christmas was always my dad‘s favourite time of the year. It was a time for family, giving and traditions. Each year our entire family made it a tradition to attend church on Christmas Eve, and of course dress in our Sunday best. Unfortunately in 2001 we lost my dad to a brain tumour. Today I have a family of my own. On Christmas Eve, and many other nights as well, I sit with my children, Mason and Natalee, and we pray to poppy. We then see who can blow the highest kiss to him in heaven. While my children never got to meet their poppy, I keep his memory alive through stories and by honouring his traditions during Christmas. I also remember him each year on the tree of memories. I know he would be proud to see me give back in his honour. It’s also awesome to show my kids their poppy’s name displayed proudly on the wall of tributes.
This Christmas, I will remember my dad, David O’Leary, on the Tree of Memories.”
